Griselinia lucida

Typically grows as an epiphyte in wet lowland forests but can also establish itself terrestrially in open coastal areas. Tolerates most well-drained soil types and is very resilient to wind and coastal conditions but needs to be protected from heavy frost. Easily recognized by its large glossy leaves and distinctive fluted roots. Produces clusters of small cream flowers often seen covered with busy bees.
