Sulptures By Guy

Guy is not only passionate about growing native plants, he is also a gifted sculptor with a lifelong connection to nature. Growing up on the family farm in Tutukaka, he spent hours exploring the creeks and discovering the creatures that lived there. This early curiosity evolved into a creative ability to visualise his ideas in three-dimensional form, allowing him to bring his concepts to life through careful craftsmanship and dedication.

His work has been widely recognised, including winning the People’s Choice Award at the 2012 Quarry Gardens Exhibition for his sculpture Hinaki, which was also exhibited at NZ Sculpture on Shore and placed in the top five of the People’s Choice Award.
His piece Sticks and Stones, created using eight hundred stainless steel screws, twelve metres of eight-millimetre dowl, epoxy resin and puriri sticks, was exhibited and sold at Sculpture on the Shore in 2014.
In 2016 his piece named Hanging Round was exhibited again at NZ Sculpture on Shore, where it sold later that year.

In more recent years, as Guy has turned his focus to crafting smaller sculptures and hand-built furniture pieces for both indoor and outdoor spaces, continuing to extend his creativity and skill. Now that the nursery has be downsized and restructured, he intends to enjoy spending more time on his craftwork and have his work available to purchase online.
