Elingamita johnsonii

A single species endemic to the Three Kings Islands, named after the shipwreck "Elingamite"in 1950.
Small growing shrub/small tree growing approx 3-5m high. It has thick dark green glossy sub-tropical looking leaves and often mistaken for a Karaka tree. The grape-like bunches of red/purple fruit are a stunning feature of this plant and are a huge attraction to the Kereru.

The Elingamita is frost tender and prefers a sheltered, semi-shaded location with reasonably dry free draining soil.
