Vigorus spreading ground cover with attractive bluish flowers in spring and summer.

Mazus pumilio is a low growing ground cover native to eastern Australia but was also discovered growing on the eastern edge of the North Island near Whananaki in 1996. The plant has since been cultivated and grows best in wet or water logged soils in both sunny and shaded spots. The low ground cover has small and flat rosette leaves which are complimented by violet/ white flowers which appear in September through to May. Mazus pumilio will reach a spread of roughly 1m if not competing with taller plants.

Good ornamental plant for damp areas where grass or other ground covers fail to establish.
