Dodonea viscosa 'Purpurea' is a Purple-leafed Hop-bush which is a cultivar from the Dodonea viscosa species. Similar to its relative the purpurea is a fast growing ever green shrub that reaches 4m in height. Easy to distinguish because of its lanceolate bronzy-green 10 cm long leaves which turn purple in cooler weather. Can tolerant some shade but produces the best colouring when planted in full sun and moderately fertile and well drained soil. Can make a tidy hedge or good small tree if space is limited.
