Metrosideros excelsa 'Vibrance' is a cultivar of the iconic New Zealand native pohutukawa tree found in coastal areas across the country. The 'vibrance' cultivar can be distinguished from the other cultivars due to its upright medium size, exceptionally long stamens on the bright red and orange flowers that occur in mid december and its long rounded leaves. Similar to other pohutukawas the Metrosideros excelsa 'Vibrance' is a broad spreading tree and can reach a height of 4m and width of 3m if planted in a sunny spot with well drained soil. The cultivar is frost tender but is still suitable in coastal conditions. The bright red flowers on this cultivar can even sometimes appear on juvenile trees.
