Extremely common found throughout NZ. Prolific white flowers produced for many months from spring much loved by bees.

Leptospermum scoparium, also known as Mānuka is a perennial scrub species native to New Zealand and found throughout the country in a wide range of locations. The shrub commonly grows to 3-4m in height and is distributed across wetland, coastal and lowland forest. Fast growing and is often the first species to regenerate disturbed sites. Mānuka is very tolerant of wind but is not shade tolerant. Clusters of abundant white flowers in Summer and attract bees.

Manuka is best planted in Autumn but the roots must not be disturbed when planting. There are lots of cultivars of this species that have different flowers and growth habits.
